FMP

I am going to be looking into Autism for my FMP, hopefully I will be able to research and find out more about individuals who are autistic therefore my research will involve a fair amount of interaction with autistic people as part of primary research. The main idea is to show others who are not autistic what it can be like in the shoes of someone who is, also to show others that our social skills, which we do not need to think about most of the times should not be taken for granted.

Autism is a developmental disorder which is lifelong. It affects the way a person communicates and interacts with people around them, people who are autistic find it difficult to interact socially but there are many effects of autism depending on the person.

Asperser syndrome is a hidden disability which means you cannot tell if a person has this just by looking at them. This area of autism causes difficulty in the following areas:

* Social communication-understand visual communication, reading body language, understand tones and expressions
* Social Imagination- Being able to know what another person is thinking or feeling.
* Social Interaction- Maintaining friends or being able to understand the social rules.

This is the area in autism that I am going to be studying. as a designer it is extremely important to be visually literate in order to produce designs that will communicate to others
